Vehicle Information:
Welfare Utility:
General purpose ATV lightweight manned by the
Welfare-Support Officer on a 24/7 basis.
Used on a majority of Brigade activities. On Operational activities used to deliver drinks and light meals
to firefighters and personnel from other services.
Canteen:
Our “mobile kitchen”, can be taken to selected
locations to provide facilities to allow Catering Personnel to prepare
substantial meals for firefighters and personnel from other services. Also utilised at fund raising and Public
Relations Exercises.
Has own
generator as well as being able to run of mains power.
Gas is
carried in twin cylinders.
Has a
seating capacity of five (5).
Bus:
The 22 seater bus is used during Operations to
transport firefighters and other personnel between Brigade stations and
assembly areas for the purpose of changing crews on tankers when the members to
be moved exceeds the seating capacity of the other vehicles.
Transport:
The only
four wheeled drive (4WD) vehicle in our fleet.
General
purpose table top vehicle with the searing capacity of seven (7).
Used to
transport a small number of personnel and equipment, such as foam and pumps to
the fireground.
Also
used for general pick-up and delivery of equipment.
Hiab:
This
vehicle was purchased in mid 2000.
Fitted with a loading crane and
a rear tipping body, making it a multi purpose vehicle.
Used to
transport equipment or supplies associated with the use of aircraft and
helicopters where air support is in operation.
Also
utilised where equipment or supplies are too heavy for manual loading. 200 litres of foam is one example.
Ideal
for rubbish runs using the rear tray.
The front tray is fixed.
Personnel Carrier:
The
Personnel Carrier (PC) is used to transport Personnel and for training.
With the
exception of the “Hiab”, which required a minimum of an “MR” (Medium Rigid)
licence, all other brigade vehicles can be driven on a “LR” (Light Rigid)
licence.
ASSOCIATED
EQUIPMENT:
Enclosed trailer:
This
neat enclosed standard box trailer carries folding tables, bench seats,
marquees and associated equipment.
Used on
major operations or large scale fund raising or public relations type
exercises.
Can be
towed by any vehicles.
Portable Cool-Room
Generally
parked at station connected to mains power and loaded with drinks of various
types.
Used on
large scale operations or other approved activities.
Generally
towed by “Transport” or “Hiab”
Requires
power source when used away from station.
Portable Wash-Up Unit:
As
named, this unit is designed to allow for the cleaning of food preparation and
serving items on a large scale as may occur at any major operations.
Has own
power and gas supplies.
Usually
towed by either “Transport” or “Hiab”
The Lake
Macquarie Welfare–Support Brigade operates in the field 24/7
