The
Hornsby-Ku-ring-gai Catering Rural Fire Brigade has two vehicles. The first being a “State of the Art” mobile
kitchen and a Personnel Carrier.
Built on a
Isuzu long wheel base truck and commissioned in Dec 2002, the mobile kitchen was constructed from ideas put forward by a team from our Catering Brigade led by Olivia Carter.
The air conditioned Kitchen incorporates a large Gas Stove, Microwave, Baine Marie, Fridge and Freezer,
hot water service (it carries 600 ltrs clean water and 300 ltrs gray water), with 240 volts power supplied by a generator or mains power and a large BBQ.
This unit
is fully equipped and ready to go and once setup is self sufficient for the
first 24 hours of any incident.
The Isuzu truck
carries up to 3 personnel.
A crew of 6 can work comfortably in this mobile kitchen.
This
vehicle has been converted into a “rapid response vehicle” and can also be used
for deliveries of food to crews in the field.
It carries a generator, microwave, BBQ and small gas stove and with the
support of additional lighting can be used at any incident.
The PC
carries 2 crew and can be setup as a self sufficient unit if required.
The Catering Rural Fire Brigade crew is available 24 hours a day for Fires, Motor Vehicle accidents and other incidents as required.
The
vehicles are currently located at the Cherrybrook Station in the Hornsby Shire.
